Depth of field and composition determines the effectiveness of an image. Because youÂ’ve shot from an elevated view point with a small aperture, the foreground, sunflower and background have all come out sharp without the lone sunflower being the main focus of attention.

A much stronger composition would have required you to crouch, move in closer and shoot from the eyelevel of the sunflower. Using the same small 7.1 Aperture, would have the sunflower sharp in focus as well as much of the background. Alternatively, shooting from this same position, but with a bigger Aperture of say 5.6, would have the sunflower sharp in focus with detail, but the background blurred out. There by creating a real sense of loneliness. Hope this helpssmile
Tamikia Taylor: I understand. I wish I could try it again because I feel like it has a lot of potential to be a very cool shot. But I cant because fall has gotten to New York and the flower no longer looks like this, lol. It does help, Thank you. Keep commenting!
